Civic Involvement Starts at Home
I'm proud to be a part of a community whose residents are actively working to improve our neighborhood. For now I'll be brief, but later I'd like to share some observations. Remember that for me, part of my own personal "pursuit of perfection" involves making a difference not just in myself and my family, but also in my community at large.
Unable to contain myself! I've volunteered to create a blog, and later a web page for Irongate Community Civic Association. Apparently the Army did not cure me of the 'volunteer bug'. I'll put the links up when I've got something to show. For now, you'll have to wait with the rest.
Our community has a couple of defining characteristics worth noting.
- Good people Don't take this for granted. People of conscious aren't easy to find these days
- Diversity I'm not talking about skin color here. I'm referring to a variety of backgrounds, point-of-views, and approaches to solving problems.
- Willingness to Act This might be the most important. From what little I know, some of the residents in the community have been working at beginning an effective community association for 10+ years. That's commitment!
We're in progress on a community "pursuit". There's a lot of potential. I'm looking forward to working with my neighbors to bring about the desired outcome. Grace and Peace!
