When Ken Baumgardt stepped into Africa, he stepped into
a whole new world.
After a 4-hour flight from Hamburg, Germany, to Paris
and a 12-hour flight to Niamey, Niger, Baumgardt walked into the airport
terminal and was greeted with the aroma of a mixture of burning rubbish
and barbeque meat. After locating his luggage, he was immediately approached
by porters trying to earn tips by helping him carry his belongings.
Walking outside, he saw approximately 50 kids begging patrons for change.
Baumgardt was embarking on a new and unforgettable experience.
